Second Day, Meeting Focused on UNAIR Hospital Development

UNAIR NEWS – Discussion between the hospital management, supervisory board of UNAIR Hospital and the management of UNAIR was the main agenda of the second day of work meeting I, Sunday, April 2.

The meeting was discussing some things resulted from the first day. For the first presentation,  Director of RS UNAIR Prof. Nasron presented some things related to the hospital conditions, especially on the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.

In presence of the supervisory board and the management of UNAIR, Nasron also explained some potentials the hospital can exploit for improvement but he also showed some obstacles.

“Our strength is our status as the best RSPTN. We also establishes collaboration on integrated education with  RSUD dr. Soetomo, FK UNAIR, and RS UNAIR itself,” he explained. “But we still have problems regarding limited trained human resources,” he added.

Prof. Joko Santoso, Vice Rector I UNAIR representing the university, in response to Prof. Nasron statement, made suggestion regarding the human resources problems. The trained staff can be given to vocational graduates whose education 70% emphasized on practical work.

“We have vocational studies which give more practical work than teories. It can be exploited to get resources,” he said.

Joko also added the importance of promotion. The internal medicine expert emphasized on promotional events like seminar and web development.

“We are targeted so our website can be excellent, hospital webste must be improved as well,” he said.

The presentation of hospital management and university management then responded by the supervisory council of RS UNAIR. The head of the council, Prof. Fasich emphasized the roles of RS UNAIR. If we are committed to perform internationally, we should not think local in Surabaya only.

“We shouldn’t limit ourselves regarding international mindset. But, we should never forget the low level, such as developing the healthcare in Madura,” said Fasich.
