Three State Owned Enterprises Greet Airlangga Knights

UNAIR NEWS – State-Owned Enterprises were present at 28 campuses throughout Indonesia, coincides with the October 28 Youth Pledge Day. Universitas Airlangga as one of the selected campuses was visited by three state-owned companies, Askrindo, PGN, and Danareksa.

The event, held at the Airlangga Convention Center (ACC) in Campus C UNAIR, was aimed to improve the understanding and awareness of youth about the condition as well as the strategic role of BUMN in national economic development. Asmawi Syam, the President Director of PT Askrindo said that the contribution of youth is expected by the nation.

“The real change lies in young people. This youth pledge moment hopefully be a turning point for young people, especially students in the midst of the fierce competition, “said Asmawi in presence of hundreds of UNAIR students.

Asmawi also added that the demographic bonus of Indonesia will soon be a great opportunity. The youth should be getting ready for it. Moreover, digitalization should also bring both opportunities and challenges.

“Everyone today can communicate easily like there is no more limitation between from one human being to another. This should be seen as a challenge to achieve better self-actualization, especially for the youth, ” he said.

The director of PGN, Jobi Trianada Hasyim was also present.  In his presentation he said that the government is currently implementing optimization of natural gas, utilization of domestic natural gas by reducing natural gas export up to 20% and stopping exports by 2036.

“The export is stopped. Therefore domestic oil reserves should be improved. Optimization of natural gas is a homework for young people to be able to contribute real to the nation, ” he said.

As a response, Dr. Rudi Purwono as the representative of UNAIR said that Indonesia has the opportunity to become the fourth largest economy in the world in 2045. Rudi also said that the current economic growth of Indonesia grows 5.2% much better than the previous year, which was at 5%.

“Furthermore, the global economic development is uncertain. Globalization demands competition among countries. Young people as the next successors should be able to prove themselves by improving their skills and competences,” he said.

On that occasion, PGN submit scholarships to UNAIR students as a form of its dedication to educational institutions.
