UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga student has made another achievement in basketball. Aven Ryan Pratama won rookie of the year 2023 at Indonesia Basketball League (IBL). He received the award on Monday, July 3, 2023.
Achievement
Aven played for Elang Pacific Caesar Surabaya via recommendation. The 19-years athlete performed well during his debut. He played in 29 games with an average of 28.5 minutes per game.
His performance as a key player for Satya Wacana was commendable. Despite of the young age, he contributed significantly to the team with 7 points average, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. His best performance happened during Jakarta Series where he scored double digits four times and three double-doubles.
Aven’s performances on-court made him a valuable player for Satya Wacana. With his enormous potential, he promised to work hard and remain committed in bringing victory to the team in the future. His spirit as a young and talented basketball player is truly exemplary. Besides, the team aspires for Aven to achieve even greater accomplishments in the future.
“I get to win the rookie of the year thanks to team and coaching staff’ supports. Without them, I wouldn’t have attained this achievement,” said the member of UNAIR basketball student activity unit.
Career Plan
Aven is highly committed to basketball. His interest in the sport started during junior high school. His skill in basketball caught the attention of Nation Star Academy, which awarded him a scholarship. From there, Aven is highly dedicated to his preparation by engaging in practices and eagerly ready to participate in other basketball competitions.
His love for basketball and the homeland is reflected in his brilliant skill development on the court. The Digital Office Management, the Faculty of Vocational Studies student has set some immediate goals, including being part of the Indonesian national basketball team and achieving the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the Indonesian Basketball League (IBL).
With the strong commitment and dedication, Aven hopes to inspire and make positive contributions to the development of basketball in Indonesia. Those motivated him to realize his dreams.
“My next target is to represent the national basketball team. I want to be the MVP in the DBL (Developmental Basketball League). To achieve these targets, I will practice more diligently,” he said post the IBL.
Time Management
For Aven, his biggest challenge was to manage his time between study and practice. Fortunately, the faculty fully supports him to perform in the national competition. It allows him to run his responsibility well.
Aven appreciated the lecturers’ support, which allows him to participate in competitions. He strives to manage his time between classes and training well to achieve optimal results in both his academic and basketball career.
He hoped that both aspects will run smoothly and his achievements are increasingly improving.
“I’m happy for the faculty and lecturers’ supports, which allows me to obtain the permissions when participating in competitions,” he said.
