The Overview
The professor narrated an overview of UNAIR’s SDGs Center under the lead of Bayu Arie Fianto SE MBA PhD. Though SDGs activities have been conducted, the SDGs Center has not been long around.
“The SDGs Center was established to coordinate all academic activities at UNAIR to support the Sustainable Development Goals,” he said.
The SDGs Center is expected to encourage the academic community to consistently apply the pillars of SDGs, thereby accelerating government efforts towards sustainable development by 2030.
The Commitment
Prof. Miftah stated several reasons why universities play a crucial role in the implementation of SDGs. Therefore, UNAIR is committed to creating skilled graduates with strong character. They will make meaningful research, innovation, and community service programs.
“SDGs must be implemented in class lectures and field lectures,” he said.
UNAIR has developed the Inavac vaccine that supports Goal 3 of SDGs regarding health and well-being. The university has also conducted farming and marketing training in Madura that supports Goal 8 of SDGs in terms of economy and climate change.
The Exhibition and The Final
At the festival, UNAIR launched an SDGs book and held a community services exhibition. The final round of the policy brief competition, which provided remarkable contributions from various universities in presenting innovative ideas to the government, was held along with the final session of the SDGs Ambassador as the pinnacle of the festival.
“Through the SDGs book launching, we aim for actions that are executed, not just verbally communicated, but also provided in written guidelines,” Prof. Miftah concluded.
