To UNAIR NEWS on Dec 5, one of the team members, Aileen Aisyah Maulida, expressed her feelings of joy and happiness over the achievement. “Very happy and still didn’t expect to win because we felt that the competition was very fierce and the other delegations were also very extraordinary,” said Aileen.
Intense competition
Aileen explained that the competition’s main them was “Basic to Clinical Anatomy”, with four competition stages: preliminary, quarter-final, semifinal and final. She revealed that the competition was quite difficult. In the preliminary round, she had to face 36 teams consisting of 108 delegates.
With their best effort, finally, UNAIR team was able to qualify for the final stage, which left four teams remaining. In the final round, all teams will be given three cases. In each case, there will be two sessions. The first session is given three questions, if correct you will get a token that can be used to “buy” supporting examinations about the case.
“The second session gave five questions related to the case and this session is a session to get points that will determine the champion,” she added.
Obstacles and challenges
Aileen also revealed the challenges and obstacles they faced. One of them is their activities such as assignments, exams, and theses that must be completed with a relatively short preparation time. Nevertheless, the team’s enthusiasm and determination to achieve the highest achievements remain the main driving force in facing every obstacle.
“Just try everything first. Study and pray as much as possible, then leave the results to Allah,” she said.
She also hoped that this achievement could be an inspiration and motivation for other students to dare to try and compete at the international level. This achievement also proves that with enthusiasm, hard work, and thorough preparation, Indonesian students can compete and achieve success on the international stage. (*)
