UNAIR NEWS – Public Relations and Protocol Center (PHMP) brought in Indozone Editor-in-Chief Dr Fahmy Fotaleno SIP MIKom, for a seminar titled “Fast without Panic: Strategies for Accurate News and Content.” The event took place on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, and served as a discussion forum to explore journalistic principles and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in journalism.
PHMP Head Dr Pulung Siswantara SKM MKes expressed his appreciation for the presence of the speakers and participants. “Mr. Fahmy is here to share with us how to produce news quickly and accurately,” he said.
Maximizing artificial intelligence (AI)
Dr Siswantara found that the presentation by the Editor-in-Chief of Indozone was very interesting. According to him, while many view AI as a competitor, Dr Fotaleno instead emphasized making the most of AI.
“We’ll use some AI to assist us in doing our work. We humans will still be the ones doing the work,” Dr Siswantara said at the Bima Suci Hall, Airlangga Convention Center (ACC), UNAIR MERR-C Campus.
He emphasized that students must have a strong motivation to learn beyond their major. PHMP serves as a bridge to make this possible.
“PHMP includes students from vocational studies, health sciences, and other majors, and they also study journalism,” he added.
Dr Siswantara explained that PHMP UNAIR has its own distinct character because it comprises students from diverse educational backgrounds. However, this diversity does not limit their ability to carry out public relations work, ranging from managing social media and branding to handling protocol events.
Closing his remarks, hehoped that the students participating in the Public Relations Internship program under PHMP will benefit from this seminar.
“Hopefully, both interns and public relations professionals will truly learn from this, because this knowledge is priceless. As today’s youth would say, this is all killer, no filler,” he said.
