They are getting more involved in crucial sectors such as education, economics, and politics. Dr. Tri Soesantari from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Universitas Airlangga discussed the relevance of modern women’s thoughts in relation to the ideas of Kartini.
Women and education Education plays a pivotal role in empowering women, a concept well understood in Kartini’s era. Educated women are better equipped to master technology and become self-reliant in facing various challenges.
Patriarchal culture as barrier However, patriarchal culture remains a significant obstacle. The belief that women do not need a higher education harms them overall. Therefore, it is crucial to continue advocating for gender equality to ensure fair treatment for women.
Through education, women have the ability to compete on an equal footing with men and secure the rights they deserve. They also have great potential as future leaders and as pioneers of educational values for future generations in Indonesia.
