UNAIR NEWS – As a part of series of the SDGs CONNECT: AUN-HPN, 11th IAC Meeting & 5th Health Promotion International Conference 2026, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) hosted the Satellite Delegates AUN-HPN Meeting. This meeting was held on Wednesday (0ctober 14, 2026) in Kahuripan 301 Room, 3rd floor, Rectorate Building, UNAIR MERR-C Campus.

This special meeting attended by the AUN-HPN International Advisory Committee (IAC), focused on the approval of the annual minutes, the expansion of the network’s membership , and the development of a roadmap for health promotion of higher education institutions in the ASEAN Plus Three region.

The AUN-HPN Secretariat Advisor, Dr Wiwat Rojanapithayakorn, highlighted the importance of campus’ health promotion role as a key pillar to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being). “Preventive strategies are far more effective than medical treatment after health issues arise. Without any health promotion and prevention in academic settings, it will be very difficult for any country in the world to achieve the SDG 3 target,” Dr Rojanapithayakorn explained.

He also highlighted the importance of the Associate Member program that is continuously developed by AUNU-HPN so that universities outside the AUN’s core membership can join and contribute.

“Health promotion access is very crucial and should not be limited. Through the Associate Member program, we widely open opportunities for other universities in the region to participate and strengthen each other,” he emphasized.

In this opportunity, AUN-HPN officially welcomed new members of the Associate Member program, those were Eastern Asia University from Thailand and De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute from the Philippines.

Meanwhile, the Executive Director of AUN HPN, Assoc Prof Dr Thunwadee Suksaroj, highlighted the focus of cross-network collaboration within the thematic networks under the AUN.

“Currently, 21 thematic networks have been established under the AUN. After an initial period of growth, it is now our turn to synergize the expertise, resources, and capacities across these thematic networks to create a tangible impact,” she explained.

Furthermore, she also announced major plans for the 2027 AUN Thematic Assembly Meeting which will be held at the Salaya Campus, Mahidol University, Thailand.

“The upcoming meeting on April 8-9, 2027, themed ‘Connecting Expertise, Building Integrated Impact’, will mark the first consolidation between 21 AUN thematic networks to expand interdisciplinary collaboration,” she concluded.
