Expanding International Networks and Nursing MoA

In his remarks, Prof. Madyan expressed his sincere appreciation for the presence of the TETO delegation and academic partners from Taiwan. He emphasized that the visit marked a valuable opportunity to strengthen the long-standing academic relationship between the institutions.

“This visit provides a valuable opportunity for Universitas Airlangga to strengthen communication, exchange ideas, and explore concrete collaborations with TETO and our partner universities in Taiwan,” said Prof. Madyan.

Prof. Madyan also expressed his gratitude for the invitation from Taiwan’s Ministry of Education and TETO for UNAIR to conduct a reciprocal visit to several universities in Taiwan at the end of August.

In addition to discussing broader collaboration agendas, the meeting also marked the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between Kaohsiung Medical University and the Faculty of
Nursing, Universitas Airlangga. The agreement serves as the first step toward sustainable cooperation in enhancing the quality of nursing education and research.

Shared commitment to education development and medical conferences

TETO Surabaya Director General David Lin warmly welcomed the growing partnership with UNAIR. He appreciated UNAIR’s upcoming visit to Taiwan’s academic institutions later this month, especially considering that several Taiwanese universities are ranked among the world’s top 500 in the QS World University Rankings 2027.

David Lin also highlighted the success of previous strategic collaborations in the medical field, including the involvement of Airlangga University Hospital (RSUA). These collaborations included the organization of consecutive international medical conferences on November 5, 2025, and May 5, 2026, with international partners.

“The outcomes of these conferences have established key models for treatment, protocols, and innovative approaches in metabolic diseases, oncology, and telemedicine. Their impact has been felt not only in Surabaya but also internationally,” David Lin explained.

Furthermore, David Lin introduced the participation of leading Taiwanese universities, including Ming Chuan University and I-Shou University, which also joined the higher education exhibition in Surabaya. He expressed hope that the meeting would inspire new collaboration opportunities, ranging from faculty and student mobility to joint research initiatives in the future.

The visit concluded with a souvenir exchange and a group photo session involving UNAIR leaders, TETO representatives, and delegates from Taiwanese universities.
