UNAIR NEWS – To face the economic revolution in this era, Prof. Dr. Suryanto, M.Si., Psych stated that social capital is needed. As the occurrence of rapid changes, especially in the economy is inevitable.
“It is impossible to deny the rate of changes (Economy, Red). There are things to be prepared, we must have social capital, “he said as the second speaker in Professors’ Innovation Exposition in Amerta Hall, Campus C Management Office, Universitas Airlangga, Thursday, November 2.
Professor of Faculty of Psychology added that social capital can be in the forms of institutions, networking, trust, social values and norms, and attitudes.
“These five elements can be the basis for action in the face of changes,” he said.
Institutions, continued Suryanto, must be strong. Both the government and the relevant organizations should be involved. Therefore, the institution as well as the organization must be able to eliminate its internal problems.
“It means, internally they must be healthy,” he said. “In terms of networking, of course this powerful institution should be able to develop it. The existing norms should work as the steps. The extent of the network should be based on the regulations which support it, ” he explained.
Suryanto said, to face the economic revolution, the attitude and mental should also be prepared. Attitude and mental reconstruction is necessary by assuming that the situations are not obstacles but challenges to face and to deal with. The should not be rejected but embraced.
“We should not give up, underestimate ourselves and be shocked easily,” he said.
Indonesia, he explained, as a diverse nation, both in culture and tradition, can use the values of local wisdom as stock to face the economic revolution such as harmony, mutual cooperation, and the values of tolerance and togetherness.
“Of course, the attitude of sticking to the spirit of competitiveness and cooperation is also needed,” he said.
In the event there were also two other speakers, Prof. Badri Munir Sukoco, SE, MBA, Ph.D. and Prof. Dr. Bagong Suyanto, Drs., M.Sc. Each explains the big themes in different perspectives, economic and social. (*)
